Keim Lotexan/N is a siloxane based water repellent impregnation to reduce the water absorption of mineral substrates. It is also used as a dust suppressant.

Suitable as a water repellent protective treatment, for mineral renders, fairfaced concrete, prefabricated concrete elements, exposed aggregate concrete, calcareous sandstone and fibre-cement boards. Keim Lotexan provides protection from water, acid rain and atmospheric pollution.

 

When applied, Keim Lotexan/N soaks into the substrate and having a very small molecular size, it coats the pores of the mineral structure. A chemical reaction takes place converting the siloxane into a silicone layer on the pores of the substrate which provides water repellency while maintaining the vapour permeability.

Keim Lotexan is a beneficial alternative to silicone which has a much larger molecular size and tends to fill the pores rather than coating them, reducing breathability and leaving a shiny appearance on the surface.
